If you haven’t tried the Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen, or if you’ve only tried one of the locations, go now. Hey! If I skip Rise, I could get all three! That sounds like a combination well worth a try. Or a biscuit with pimiento cheese, which isn’t available in Louisburg. I probably should just follow the wisdom of biscuit maven David Sanders and get a plain biscuit, a sure winner, and a biscuit with just bacon. Based on my limited experience I lean toward Louisburg, which may reopen their inside seating someday, and which has a more extensive menu (fat back, tenderloin, red hots.) But I’m quite willing - eager, really - to try Chapel Hill again. That said, I certainly will go back to Sunrise. The sausage was nice spiced but, alas, overcooked and dried out. There also was a better egg-to-sausage ratio that at the overstuffed (with egg) Louisburg location. Once again, the biscuit was wonderful, just wonderful, just as my biscuits were at the Louisburg location. Since I’d just had a breakfast sandwich at Rise, I only ordered a single sausage egg and cheese biscuit (4.67 with tax), which arrived with reasonable speed. There’s no indoor seating, alas.Īs far as I could tell, there was only one person preparing food, although I might have missed someone. Sunrise is a tiny, charming place with a single drive through window. They are extra large with fluffy insides that radiate a rich buttermilk character. All that is OK with me, because the biscuits are superb. Service is drive-through, and parking around the place is minimal.

There are no dining accommodations whatever. The wait looked manageable this time, so I got in line. Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is a kitchen and little more. I’d tried to go to the Chapel Hill location before, but was deterred by the line. I’d already been to the other Sunrise location, in Louisburg, and reviewed it here. I decided to go to the must-visit Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen in Chapel Hill.
